Unfortunately scammers everywhere no matter what the nationality. 

Did we ever get a name and shame page on the forum? I know that this could itself cause problems as someone could just have a personal vendetta or actually not happy with a job that is okay in somebody else's eyes. Difficult sometimes.

If I ever did a job for someone no matter what it was and I relied on the work to keep my family fed and watered, I would do everything I could to ensure my customers were happy. There is always that one customer who you can never please!

This is why I'm a firm believer that its very important to submit or receive a written quotation of what you are doing or getting for the money. Not an estimate but a quotation. It covers both parties.

In the building game there is always the unforseen work but as long as this is qualified at the outset then there should be no arguments......in theory!

Oh i didn't know this.....bit unfair in my eyes. I'll have to consider this as a no go then. Shame because some people just need to know about this kind of stuff. I suppose if people do post about their experiences we can all just take note.

Got home last night and taking it easy. Planning my next trip out to try and get things through before the year is out. Peeled grapes 🍇.....i wished.

You are exactly right, unfortunately a "name and shame forum" will be abused by some (in my experience) to anonymously falsely tarnish competitor businesses and use it to carry out vendettas against innocent people. As someone who has run forums for many years this is a sad but frequent occurrence, which makes a "name and shame" forum impossible to police as there is often no way of knowing whether the accusation is true or not due to the anonymous nature of the internet. I can imagine that some forum members in this thread would report, complain and call for bannings and deletions if their business ended up in the name and shame forum - so it is quite amusing to see some of those same members calling for one and saying they can't say anything anymore!

Instead we have a "Recommendations" forum - while still obviously can be abused by some, at least it allows members to find recommended businesses, as that is what people primarily look for first and far easier to police.

So, let's say someone has a genuine bad review of your business and names you and the service you have personally provided - are you happy for me to keep that online and won't report it and ask me to delete it?

These are the same members who now seem to be saying "you aren't allowed to say anything anymore". You can't have it both ways!

So will you not be reporting any posts anymore then?
