To be self employed here in Spain is a minimum €250 a month payment to the government even if you have not made any money.

This is what I have been told and will give you something to think about.

Many Spanish people who are self employed have said that to me but I have never looked as I run 2 sucural's from UK based companies here. Totally different tax regime and probably easier/cheaper....

Tax laws change everyday/month/year here but this is a good indication - http://selfemployedinspain.com/cost-freelance-spain/

As to your question - is there much work here for a cleaner? Yes, many hotels with low paying jobs, but the season is over. Jobs are filled long before the main summer season starts and a Spanish lady with a family to house and feed will surely get the job before a single english immigrant.

As in any tourist location, there are "changeover" cleaning jobs for rentals, but these are mostly done by insured and established 1 or 2 wo/man companies who normally do not hire anybody else.

Supermarkets hire cashiers, X-mas is coming so shops will be hiring seasonal employees.

Do you speak any Spanish??? Will you have a car??
