Hi iam my mums carer, full time as her dementia has got worse , I know I can get residency for her , but the question is if I get her residency to live with me , will we then have to pay death taxes to Spain when she dies , as all her money is in uk and I would be keeping her here and supporting her , if so how much would it be , as not sure whether to put her in full time care in uk , but she is self funding . If your mother becomes a tax resident (living in Spain more than 183 days in a calendar year) your mother is liable to report all worldwide income and assets in her annual tax return to the Spanish tax authorities.
