cheap taxi
Hi arriving in Alicante on 9/8/19 at approx 11.30pm, travelling with my 90year old mother, we are staying in L'alfas del Pi, have been quoted £130 return for taxi, does anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative.
thanks

Hello Lexi how are you today
As far as I know all licensed taxis are metered and charge the same (or at least should do). I don’t fully understand what relevance your 90 year old mother has to do with the price. You pay for the trip and not by number of passengers.
The only cheaper alternative is illegal ‘’Jack the Lad’’ no tax, no insurance, no MOT, in his banger. Perhaps your post might attract a few offers by PM from Jack the Lad.
Have a good day

The only reason I mentioned my 90year old mam is because we were advised to book transfer bus, but as you know the transfer buses do not take you to apartments only drop you at drop off points and did not want to be wondering around at 1am in the morning looking for the apartment.
thanks

Sorry forgot to mention have had quotes for taxi and they all differ from £135-£160

Metered or not clearly there must be some margin with other charges otherwise they would all be charging identical prices which, with quotes ranging between €135-160 for the same trip, obviously they are not.
A very quick search found a price of €120 so around that would seem to be about the minimum you can expect to pay for a proper taxi.
You could try here where participating companies will bid for your business. Never used them so not necessarily a recommendation but at least you'll know if the prices you have already are in the ballpark.
BTW unless you're coming by time machine I presume you mean 8/9/19 lol

Thank you for your reply, yes we are arriving on 9th September lol, we normally stay in Benidorm so know that area well but have booked a private rental in L'Alfas del Pi so not sure of the area and would hate to be dropped off miles away with mum and luggage lol Have found a company called Epictransfers they seem reasonable but have not heard of them before, but thank you so much for your help.

The price deosn’t seem too unreasonable - we occasionally use a legal taxi service to take us from my mother’s house just outside the town of Calpe to the airport and it’s about 180 return.
They have all been efficient, clean, ontime and generally professional. Agreed, more than one wants to pay, but sometimes the convenience and reliability are what’s important.
