I have been with Nord VPN for 3 years, my credit card expired and I got a request from them for the new details, as there were 4 months to run I did not give them the details. I started getting ever more insistant reminders and......... more and more annoying login requests, password etc. When we...

... got to 6 weeks from the renewal date my Fire device stopped working ie. I couldn't log in (Odd that!!!!!). I contacted them about my problem and they came up with a new solution every week with different resulting messages, I had to send them screenshots etc after each trial process which took about 30 minutes (disinstall, delete cache, switch off/on reinstall etc. Needless to say none of them worked. Today is my last day with them, I haven't tried it but it didn't work a week ago and comms appear to have dried up. so I can't be bothered to deal with their practices any more.

No point in renewing with them as my device does not work with their system.

Time to try a few of the others, some offer 24 hours free, ie no card details etc., other have money back trials.

M

Thanks for that.

It all depends on what you want your VPN to do.

If it to surf anonomously many will do this.

However, if you want to access Amazon Prime to play videos it is very unlikely that any VPN will get around Amazon's fairly sophisticated detection software. I have tried most of the VPNs and have never been able to beat Amazon's software.

Most will not let you use the BBC iPlayer.

I would be interested if anyone can use their UK Prime account fully in Spain. if so, plaese share how you have done this.

I have also reset my browser to appear loacted in the UK and PC settings as well.

I have an Amazon account in the UK and another in Spain, just don't forget which when you are logging in to the UK account and use the UK VPN. In Spain and with Spanish Amazon acc no VPN necessary.. We have just watched a film on Prime ES without VPN.

With Nord I never managed to log into iPlayer because a UK TV licence number was required.

Otherwise normal streaming tv for F1 for example was always possible in countries it was live by selecting the correct VPN location!

Thanks I just have one account a UK based Amazon prime one. Regarding the BBCI player one I could bypass this with a couple of VPNs up to to a year or so ago then the BBC also worked out how to detect VPNs.

No problem anonomous browsing. But the big girls and boys can identify the use of a VPN!

Good VPN required, without pop up adds.

Any recommendations with costs.

Thanks.

I use Nord VPN, I have had no problems with them

I could not use my Prime account with surfshark (or any of the others I tried) but I can access iPlayer from Spain, this VPN is the only one that I tried that could do that via my firestick.

I'd definitely go with Surfshark,  Current deal €59.76 for TWO years, then €54.47 per year after that. (prices are plus IVA)

Good speeds, you can install on as many devices as you wish, excellent customer service, 30 day money back guarantee and if you ever email them they normally respond almost instantly (within office hours of course)

I think they have more servers around the world than anyone, I also think I read somewhere that they have merged with NORD VPN, but don´t quote me on that

And if you choose to "mask" your location and log on to a UK server you can access BBC etc etc

Whats not to like

Regards

Gary

I use SurfShark. Once in a while an App stops working.  I disconnect SurfShark and reconnect.  Then everything works. If you use Lobster, the disconnect advice/knowledge is essential. The VPN makes Pandora reachable from Spain.

Hi,

I use surfshark, I paid around 50euro for a 2 year subscription but like most vpns they run offers all the time and you may be able to get it cheaper.

I tried several (express/cyberghost/nord) on free 30 day trials before choosing  surfshark, as it suited my firestick set-up best. I suggest you do the same.

Hi Bob,

we purchased the firestick from Amazon UK during one of their sales weeks. Not the latest model, it is about 3 years old.
