Site fees can be as much as the rental on an apartment depending on facilities and you will pay for the whole year and as Ray says, as things stand you will only be able to spend 3 months at a time here.

Mobile homes have their advantages.

First and foremost it's yours which means you can deck it out exactly as you wish so that it does become a real second home, something no rented apartment can ever be.

You're also pretty much guaranteed good neighbours who will keep an eye on it for you when you're not there which also takes care of security. Nothing worse than signing up to a 3 month rental which you can't actually enjoy staying in because you're plagued by noisy Spanish neighbours and their barking dogs 24/7.

Providing the site allows it you can rent it out to friends and family to cover at least part of the ground rent.

Prices for decent ones start around €25k and although you'll never make money out of one buying wisely means you needn't lose a lot either.

A further important point to consider is that in Spanish terms mobile homes are not regarded as properties but as personal possessions like an expensive watch or jewelry etc. and therefore come with none of the baggage and expenses of purchasing/owning/selling bricks and mortar, estate agents and notary fees to mention but two.

Also come the time you want to sell it (or your kids if you die) it can be disposed of it with zero contact with Spanish bureaucracy.
