As it is getting closer to our move to Busot I have started to worry about Brexit can anyone out their advise how this could affect ex pats and those that have chosen to live in Spain.  Sadly I don’t really understand Brexit that well?

Any advise good or bad would be greatly received.

thanks in advance

Lynnemary welcome & don´t or (do!) open a  can or worms.

Only for me, ( European). Just me (opinion) (that´s democratically for friends, family etc....& not just me). After 2016, I thought this was going to to be a disaster . Up until now....I´ve not seen any difference other than that disaster. Others, perhaps, I see something good for other one´s perspective, or where others live.

UK parliament off to their hols! enjoy Busot!

"Sadly I don’t really understand Brexit that well"

I sincerely hope that means you didn't vote in the referendum!

Unfortunately I cannot make head nor tail of Villa's previous reply but from my perspective over three years on there are still no concrete answers to your questions and if you do happen to find any then perhaps you'd be good enough to share them with the rest of us!

Good morning from sunny Busot

My wife and I have been living here in Busot for 18 months, after selling our UK home to move to Spain, and we love it here.

We were fully aware of Brexit and all that may or may not happen. We are under state pension age, so we knew that we had to have private medical care.

We also had lots of conversations with people who moved here when the currency was €1.40 plus to £1, as you can imagine those people really feel the difference. So at the time we moved to Spain the there was €1.13 to £1, so we decided to budget on €1,10 to a £1, as everyone was telling us that the pound will drop like a stone, and so far we have been winning until the last few weeks, now those predictions are coming true, although at the moment its not making a massive difference.

We have become residents and have changed our UK driving licences to Spanish, and there is nothing more we can do, except enjoy this wonderful country.

If you coming to live here knowing that you may not get as much for your money as in previous years, although that could change for the better. Along with the knowledge will have to pay for private health if not pensionable age, and that they will be some tedious paperwork i think you will be just fine.

Even at a low exchange rate, most things are still cheaper here than the UK.

With a promise from Spain that expats will be OK as long as they stay legally and apply for residencia, that combined with beautiful weather, and lovely people, i think its worth the risk, and would do it again without hesitation.

Happy to help you if you need it, enjoy Busot

Thank you for your positive response it has made me feel so much better.  I am both nervous and excited about our new adventure.  You sound like lovely people and when we arrive in Busot I may ask for your further advice in regards to queries if that is ok with yourselves.

Kindest regards

Lynne
