I have been a resident in Playa Flamenca for five years but I am unsure how to register my vote in the local elections. Can anyone please advise?

It is too late now, as you had to register your intention to vote way back in January. After 5 years you need to renew your Padron, which is like the U.K. electoral roll. If you do this every 5 years, you should be sent your voting application in the post.

A recurring question due to the council prevarications.

However, the final contracts have been issued and they will now start to build the chiringuitos and toilets and get the beach beds up and running.

La Caleta ones are forecast to be open by the end of this month.

Calas Cerrada, Bosque and Capitan are sourcing the building materials.

The good news is that the ones in Cala Bosque (La Zenia) and La Caleta will be open all year round under the new contract including the toilets.

This recurring theme again. I know it's been asked on several threads.

The restaurant on La Caleta beach on Cabo Roig is now open. La Glea, Cala Capitan and Cala Bosque at La Zenia say they will be open by this weekend coming.

That's 4 beaches that will have opened the restaurant areas. The remaining two beaches are forecast to open their chiringuitos by the end of May.

Punta Prima, Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca are still awaiting contracts to be awarded.

Your right it is a recurring theme as the beach bars have been closed for over a year! Reading the early posts on this thread  from last April/May the same complaints apply now. I do wonder why what would seem to be a simple contract for a beach cafe can take 15+ months to get in place. We walked along the coast from La Zenia beach to Cabo Roig at the weekend, very few facilities if any to be seen on the beaches.

At least the walkway is open now though the parts that still have metal railings are in a dangerous condition due many of the support stanchion posts being rusted through, so some sections might need to be closed again soon.

Rgds,

Aitch.

The state of the railings and the uprights are a disgrace and dangerous. In many places they have rusted away. Sadly, its the same old Orihuela Council, taking the coasts money and spending it elsewhere. No proper maintenace to anything.

I don't think it will ever change. Most of the coasts property is occupied by foreigners, they are just the Councils magic money tree to fund projects in Orihuela not on the Orihuela Costa. The Council has still not moved anything forward to build the pedestrian bridge over the AP7 going up from the N332 towards La Cuerda, Lomas de Cabo roig and beyond. They've had the money from the bond money from the promotor who was supposed to have built it when they got permission to build a new developement close by. Several protests from locals were featured in the local coast papers, then its forgotten just like the coast.

Hi,

hard to disagree with your views though I see there have been improvements in Los Dolses, lately as I mentioned in the post -

Survey to prioritise budget spending for 2024Take a look at the link that has been posted  in that thread as it gives the opportunity to put forward what you believe are the 5 most urgent needs for 2024. These can be submitted on facebook or via email. Not to say anyone will take notice but nothing ventured, etc.Rgds,Aitch.
