Hola!

I am bringing some cigarettes back to England for a relative and was wondering if it is cheaper to buy them in the tobacconists here in Spain or at the airport (now we have left the EU). Am I right in assuming that the allowance is 200 cigarettes? Thanks!

You have the correct allowance, buy them at the Tabac.

The rules differ for whichever Nation of the UK you are returning to. Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) 200 cigerattes. Northern Ireland, 800 cigerattes. Tabaconist shops are cheaper!

Hi, theoretically they should be cheaper at the airport or even on board a plane or ship as we now can buy "duty free" whereas in the Tabac shops there is Spanish tax already on them. Our next trip in August will be first after Brexit so we,ll know then, but perhaps some kind sole can tell us on here what the price was as duty free. We bring tobacco so just 500g for 2 of us, yes cigarettes are 200 per person. A present from Brexit NOT, saving pennies but allowance drastically cut.

Regards

Pauline.

Returned 3 days ago.

Pack of 500g Amber leaf rolling tobacco €87.50 from the Tabac which is only slightly up on when we were there 18 months ago, I can't see it being any cheaper at the airport.

And yes, we had to split it and carry 5 pouches each.

Hi Ken

Yes that's what we paid at tabac shop last November, we get Amber leaf too, thankfully I gave up 8yrs ago, but hubby no chance. I hope someone comes on with an airport price, cos it should be at least 21% cheaper. We did bring large load back last November(3kgs each) but didn't expect to have to wait till now to return. Haven't bought Uk baccy for over 20years and my son (who we ony gave half a kg to in November is now paying £26 a packet. OMG, I hope we don't get to paying that or we,ll not afford our Spanish 2nd home.

The beauty of Brexit, NOT.

I did actually walk past the Amber Leaf in the airport but never considered the effect of Brexit and so just carried on waking lol.

We actually bought 2 full packs, only realised the new allowances later on, therefore one pack left at our property in Spain.

I know that B&H and Silkcut were cheaper at the airport - €42.50 as opposed to €50 in the tabacas
