I have a 4'6 mattress .. can i take it to the side of the road near the bins? and if so, is there a particular day, that collections for larger items are taken.

You can call 966 702 390 and arrange for it to be collected. They will tell you where to leave it and when they will pick it up. This is a free service. If you just leave it, it may stay there for some time adding to the dumped rubbish. Normally they will tell you to put it out the evening before they collect it.

Not sure of the dividing line between Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa. That's the number if Cabo Roig comes under Torrevieja. If it comes under Orihuela Costa then it's 966 076 100 extension 4500 to request the same thing.
