I’ve noticed that there’s so much dog mess on our streets and beautiful coastal areas and frankly it’s disgusting. As a responsible dog owner, I would never dream of allowing my pet to do its business in public areas without properly disposing of the mess.

People should be ashamed of themselves and the authorities should do more to fine people who let their animals foul wherever they want. So many selfish people let their dogs foul on the beach, taking no notice of the signs that dogs are not permitted on our prized beaches. it’s absolutely disgusting and makes me furious and embarrassed when I hear tourists commenting on this.

Yes it is disgusting, Many people end up walking in it. I think patrols are needed with fines being handed out. Also all the unnecessary barking needs sorting out. Some nights I am kept awake.

I fully agree Shelless.......

I've mentioned this subject several times on the forum over a long period. You will find its a big problem in many towns and cities. Its a problem here in the back streets of Benidorm and when I'm walking around its like taking a slalom course to avoid it all....especially at night.

I'll say this from the start that I do not blame the dogs (owners will soon accuse us of being anti dog) I like dogs and my parents had a beautiful schnauzer but some owners are to lazy or can't be bothered to clear up after their dogs especially when it's away from their front gate!! Dog owners are not bothered that diseases are passed on through dog poo and could easily affect young children not to mention it stinks when it gets on people's carpets etc.

You will get a raft of dog owners replying how well they look after their dogs but it's the owners that don't look after their dogs and community areas that are the problem. Maybe a dog DNA database and some random testing should be the way forward......

What really gets me are the so called responsible dog owners who pick up and put their dog poo in a little plastic bag then drop the bags at the side of a path or tie it to a branch or fence.

I know, what's that all about?

Thing is we very rarely see the owner and dog when the deed is being done, it appears late at night or early morning. As an example it was early one morning earlier this week and I was on our balcony when I saw a person walk past with their dog a few steps on the dog did what dogs do I saw the woman look round, presumably to check if anyone was about saw me and hastily cleaned up after the dog. I would have no hesitation in calling out anyone who I saw not cleaning up after their dog.

Don't think any of this comes down to being a dog lover or not, it's about social responsibility making where we live somewhere to be proud of.

Yes, indeed I have unfortunately witnessed small children playing and ending up covered in the mess, totally unacceptable and I think patrols are a great idea Steve 👍

You’re so right Alaba5😂 As Steve says m, you can’t blame the animas it’s the lazy owners.

Bring on the patrols and fines; they’ll then think twice about it.

TP20, again so true. I really don’t understand what goes through their minds…

Hello

Although I agree with you all, the problem won't get resolved on the forum   It has always been  like this for the many years  I've lived here so....  If you feel strongly enough  about patrols/fines  etc.  go & talk to someone at   your local Town Hall and see what their response is --- If you do, please come back on the forum and let us know .

Cheers
