I intend to live in Spain very soon as I am retired, I currently live in The Republic of Ireland, and I have an Irish pension, what are the tax implications?

It will make it easier for you to come and live in Spain.
Tax wise the source of your pension is largely irrelevant, you will be taxed on your worldwide income the same as the rest of us.
If you have a UK driving licence then know that it will not be exchangeable for a Spanish one and that you will have to take a Spanish test within 6 months of arriving.

You will need to apply for a Certificate of residency within 90 of moving here in Spain and meet any requirements regarding income and healthcare.

We've just moved from Meath. You have no limit on time to get Residency the 90 day does not apply. Your pension covers you for Residency also, I need €7000 in bank as I'm not pension age but my husband is so he has no restrictions. The only thing you need to do is get your Padron in the local town hall and apply in Ireland to transfer your health cover to Spain trough the Pension Office just ring them. All this Imformation came from our Solicitor by the way.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply, a lot of the answers I have been getting are not for Irish people, Unfortunately I don't have private health insurance and I am not eligible for a medical card, I wonder how that will work, many thanks 😁

You don't need private health insurance if your on an Irish pension,or a medical card it's just the same as getting health care at home except Ireland pay Spain for your health care here, or vice versa if a Spanish pensioner moved to Ireland.

You just pay your yearly taxes on all your money in Spain or elsewhere eg Ireland. Its its 0.2% on the interest you make on your savings. Our solicitor is doing all this for us SP Civil in Torrevieja.
