Hi All, We are moving to La Zenia from the UK in just over a week, we are self driving a transit removal van leaving Portsmouth to St Malo then onto La Zenia. As we will stopping over night at least twice I am looking to get contents cover for our trip. I am finding this difficult to do, does anyone have any suggestions of insurance companies that I could approach. Strangely the van hire company cannot suggestany insurers!! Any help would be appreciated. We do not have home contents cover in the UK as we have been living with our Daughter in preparation for moving (goods in storage), also the insurance company for the place in La Zenia will not cover the journey.

Unfortunately I doubt you'll find anybody to cover such a multi faceted DIY trip.

It's too much of an unknown and therefore incalculable risk and insurers only insure when they can be pretty certain of the extent of their exposure.

That said if you can find the right broker you can insure almost anything but it's likely to come at an unpalatable cost.

With just a week to go though even that avenue is probably closed.

Thank you, I understand the high risk associated with covering a trip like this.

We also looked at that as an idea but even after 6 months of searching we could not find the relevant insurance to cover us.

We ended up booking with a removal company from Spain and took all the stress from the move.

as a mover myself we have to have goods in transit insurance to cover any items also as we are doing it for a living insurance to cover hire and reward which combined costs me 2000 per year as you arent experienced movers everything would need to be packed correctly strapped up etc etc
