It sounds like you think it's the dog that has the psychological test. It isn't - it's you! 

You have to be assessed to ensure they think you're suitable to own a 'dangerous' dog, and that you're physically capable of controlling it.

Thank you so much for the very helpful and very quicky reply! It's hugely appreciated. I did indeed think the psychological test was on the dog rather than the owner, so am now feeling very foolish - but relieved! :-) I work for a staffie rescue here in the UK so am quite happy to be rigorously assessed. Thank you also for sending me the link to the other thread, which I hadn't found and which gave me all the info I need for now, thank you.

Hi we have an english bull terrier and had to go through this process. Its not as hard as it seems. Firstly you go to the town hall to register. They send you to a doctor who checks your vision , blood pressure and grip strength. She asks a few questions about your health and thats it. Charges you 55 euro and gives you a certificate. Then you have to go to the sanidad in the old town with proof of pet insurance in spain. Has to cover public liability over 120,000 euros. They then send your details off to check i think like a criminal records check. Approx 3 weeks later you get your licence which you have to carry all the time when you walk the dog. You will need 2 licences ad you are only allowed 1 "dangerous dog" per person.
