Hello. I wonder if any one can help me. My Grandmother was buried in the oldcemetary in Calpe in 1984. I believe that the remains may be moved after a period of time. Just hoping whether anyone visiting the cemetary could check for me to see if the grave is still there. Her name was Florence Doris Calvert. The plot number was group 92 number 14 or 10. Thanks in advance. My Mother and Father are also buried in the newer section  - Reg and Betty Calvert.  Andrew Calvert

Hi, I thought the graves got emptied after 50yrs & remains were cremated? Be interested to know if this is still the case. Much better system than here in the UK, more space for the living.

I have been in contact with the council and they said her remains were due to be moved in 2004, 20 years after being buried but only if her family had not been in contact. We last visited in 2018 and she was still there.  If I can find out if she is stll there then I can request the grave remains as it is!

I was led to believe that the coffin was exhumed after 7 years as the soul of the dear departed would have been spirited away by then to wherever religious people think they go. although the deceased families could pay " storage " space for extra time. I guess that due to the rocky terrain they need to have some sort of control spacewise and maybe the local councils differ from area to area, we are in Torrevieja.....
