If you are getting bitten take Vit B12, shut your doors and windows that have no Mossie screens at around 20.00, use anti Mossie wicks or yellow citrus candles that burn slow for the terrace and buy a couple of spray cans to keep around the house, this spray is a bit toxic so exit the room for a while after spraying- dog included, for him get Frontline from Patricia's Pets in La Marina village or multiaction lozenges from the Vets, don't leave your dog outside !!

I think its all seasons except winter?

Have you tried odourless garlic capsules? One a day keeps the mozzies away...

My husband eats loads of garlic and the mozzies still eat him alive.

Hi Julie and Bill ,welcome to Spain ( I spent 18 years in Plymouth with the Royal Marines and all my children were born there ,Freedom Fields off Mutley Plain ,Apartments now I think) anyway ,you have had some good advice on here (usually do) The way I do it is pretty much the same ,I have a bug zapper in my hallway near my front door which has a mozzie net(magnetic) on it there is also one in the kitchen and bathroom ,they dont use much electricity but are very effective and as one person said you hear a zap when it gets one which I find quite satisfying lol..An added bonus is if you are of the age that you sometimes have to get up at night to go to the loo then you dont have to turn lights on as they emit a blue light which is ideal for seeing at night .I leave mine on allday and night. As far as repellents are concerned I think I have treid them all and here is where it gets a tad strange as I have found through experience that what some recommend dont always work for you so you have to experiment a little to find what suits ,I think its got something to do with smell and blood type but thats just my guess for instance there is a product made by AVON that lots of people recommended called "Skin so Soft "and I know it works for lots of people but not me,another is one they sell in Mercadona called "agua de colonia fresca " they say that the Spanish put this on their babies to keep them off but again doesnt work for me .What I found on the advice of a Spaniard who told me his mother always used it on him was a repellant in a yellow bottle with a red top called "Autan" and hey presto nothing comes near me . Good luck and enjoy your new life ,Im sure you wont regret it.Best wishes Bob.
