Buyer has to pay a special transfer tax depending on make and age, not shape.
It's not a special tax, it's a change of ownership usually done through a Gestores Administration

When we sold my husband's car, we used Orke Servicios in Los Montesinos to do the transfer. They charged €320 for drawing up the transfer contract, which included the cost of the tax. My husband went with the purchaser to Orke's offices, with the required documentation, where they drew up the contract and everything was completed in less than an hour.
I've seen mixed messages about who is responsible for paying for the transfer - the seller or the buyer - so when we bought a new car last October, I asked the dealer. He advised agreeing this upfront because, although the buyer wants to be sure the vehicle is legally theirs, it's also very much in the interest of the seller to ensure they don't remain responsible for it - especially any fines the new owner may incur 😉
I'd recommend getting a quote for the transfer tax, along with the gestor's fee, so that you can agree how to apportion it. We agreed with the buyer that they would pay the transfer tax and we would pay the gestor's fee. It may also be helpful to include the cost in your advert.
As a general point of advice for people buying and selling vehicles, even buying from dealerships can have the same risk, with second-hand dealers who tell you not to worry, they'll sort out the paperwork. This happened to a friend who, almost a year after buying her vehicle, was receiving repeated calls and visits from Trafico because the car dealer didn't complete the transfer. My advice would be, if possible, buyer and seller visit the gestor together, then you both know that everything has been completed correctly.

Thankyou Kim, we sold our car in 2021 too. Both buyer and seller went to the gestor and completed the documents. Hopefully when we sell the same will happen. My son said we can get a bill of sale from the DGT.
