I disagree, I bought a Canadien from Brico Depot, DIY install, photos and info to SAT Company as given by BricoDepot, and they sent me full commssioning guidance instructions and registered the product for Warranty,

Had a slight problem when I had to change pellet supplier, it would seem despite the Certfications they are all slightly different and need to reset the Air burners speeds to maximise, again contacted the SAT and they offered an engineered based in Elche who was in the area to call in and set up,...

... ,

he arrived within an hour or two, reset main combustion fan for optimum flame and all good, 4 years in now and working fine,

Charged me 55€

For interest the service agent recommended  BY the Brico Depot SAt from Elche was Integral Services Jovic SL, (Jorge Sanchez),   Mobile 692 966 285,

talking to the service agent, he says they service the complete range of Stoves irrespective of model or Supplier,,   ,

Hi Mike,

This is really helpful.  Do you know how much Integral Services charge for an annual service on a pellet burner please?  (The company that supplied and installed our pellet burner has increased its annual service cost, year on year, by 40%!)

Many thanks,

Kim

No probs, Mike.  I was hoping Jorge was going to be on Whatsapp, but he doesn't appear to be, so I'll just have to practice my Spanish! 😉

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello Mike48t

We are going back quite a while since I did the post. I am pleased that your Canadien worked out well for you and you had a decent commissioning agent.  My comments were based on personal experience with the agent that Bricodepot sent to commission my burner.

When the guy came in and asked for the instruction manual, that rang the alarm bells straight away.  He had little or no clue what he was looking at and to cut a long story short was incapable of performing the job and upped and left with the job half done.  Many of the fires basic functions like timer, thermostat, modulation and canalazation fan were not working.  I had to sort these out myself.

There are a number of short-comings with the fire mainly that the pellets do not slide down the hopper leaving about half stuck to the sides.  If the fire was built in, as it should be, it would be impossible to see what is left in the hopper and since you can't tip anything into the top you have no idea how full or empty it might be.  You load the fire using a drawer at the front which turns out to be a total pain.

As I said in my first post Bricodepot will sell you a fire or whatever, but don't have a clue how it works and can't offer an iota of technical back-up.

So my best recommendation still stands, which is not to buy from them unless you are capable of sorting things out for yourself.

Service and Spain are two words that should never be in the same sentence in Spain.

I am happy that you had a better experience than I did, so feel fee to disagree as much as you like.

Hola Classico, dont really disagree with what you say , you get what you pay for, the Canadien are a very low cost estufa of that type, .as we bought different types ( sounds like yours is an insert>>) and mine was a top loader, so totally different products, , Must say i have experienced none of the problems you mention, in fact quite the opposite .

Have to disagree on Spain Service being an Oxymoron,  I have overall very good experience, The only bad experience i can remember muchly is the use of an English Mobile Car mechanic, and since have only used Spanish,    ( PS I am not a Spanglophile, So no rose colours here, LOL, ))

I guess its all down to good and bad choices, some you win and most you lose, !!

Thanks, Mike, the Whatsapp link did eventually come up later that evening.  My husband said there can sometimes be a delay in syncing - it may not help that I have a UK mobile number (although that's why I never forget the international dialling code, LOL!).

Kind regards,

Kim
