I already have a GREEN Residents card held since June 2018.

Does anyone whom as changed from the Green Residents Card to the NEW TIE know if you have to go through the same process of showing Bank Balance and Private Medical Insurance, as well as showing all pages albeit copies of a U.K. Passport pages?

As well as the Government cost of solely changing from Green residents Card to the TIE?

If you could advise what documents a U.K. Passport holder need to take other than the present Green Residents Card and original Passport.

Much appreciate your experience learned and as many details that you can advise regards this changing over from Green Residents Card to a TIE.

We did it.

The only documents needed were - passports, Residencia cards. There are some forms to fill in, and a small tax needs to be paid at a bank (a stamped receipt was issued).

Here is a useful guide (by Kimmy11).

Good on you Kelvin1960,

Indeed the advised link covers all the points I asked for in my original question.

You forgot to mention a photo but are you saying that Alicante has dropped the demand for a padron?

Hello  Gem

When you say 'all the correct papers', I assume that includes  resiidencia. The TIE (Foreigners Identity Card) has replaced the residencia  certificate or card we used to get. & people applying since July have received the TIE.  People with the old residencia have also begun to exchange that for a TIE

At the moment there is no obligation to swap & nothing official has been announced but it looks like it will become a requirement eventually, so,  maybe next year we will get a definitive response.

Cheers

G’day elinspain,

You are absolutely correct in your statement- however more and more government departments are looking at the green residencia card and saying “where is your TIE”?

I experienced this last week when going into the local medical Salud- the lady although very helpful advised me that I should have a TIE.

Hence why I am going to do it sooner rather than waiting until next year when there is going to be a mad rush - when it is made obligatory.

Hello Morf

I answered the O.Ps question regarding obligation,  however on a personal level I am in the process of exchanging mine...part one done a few weeks ago & now awaiting  further fingerprint check & collection of my card.

It was mentioned to me at Torrevieja Town hall when I collected my digital signature 2 weeks ago, the lady said  it was good that I was doing it now because they won't issue digital certificates , from January, without a TIE......I had provided my passport as proof of I.D.

Good luck with getting your exchange done.

Cheers

We were not asked for our padron, as our address had not changed since we gained Residencia
