InJune 2022 our water supply was cut off with no notice even though all our payments were up to date. We were informed it was probably that our water contract was not in our name, which was true. As non residents in an illegal house we engaged a local estate agent to deal with it. It took until June 2023 to get Town Hall approval to be reconnected. We are told all the paperwork was then submitted to the water company for reconnection but 4 months later we are still not connected. We keep being told it could be anytime now but it never happens. Has anyone else had this happen and how did you get reconnected?

Hello

A lot of these houses were on builders contract like my neighbour since 2006, they pay the water bill  etc and have had no hassle.  Another person had the water still in the original 1st owners name.  Again no problem with having the DD in their name or the bill etc for 12 yrs.

She then enquired how to change the contract into their name at the Hidraqua office they gave them a sheet of paper with a list of things they needed. The cost would be 200e then.  I think they needs padron, SUMA, deeds, old contract, and some paperwork from town hall.  That would be more expense knowing town hall. Since she has had no bother she decided to leave it.

Hope this helps. By the sounds of it I think someone in office made a mistake and you were cut off.

For your information SUMA is in fact the agency that collects the IBI (similar to UK rates) payments on behalf of the town hall.
