This gives a fairly good synopsis of the income and residency requirements. https://www.spectrum-ifa.com/moving-to-or-living-in-spain-after-brexit-what-do-you-need-to-do/

Thank you Declan, I'll have a look later. Gwen

Don’t get down about it all.  Keep in mind Spain has a very long history of U.k. pensioners moving in. and how much they will lose out on in monthly pensions if not many can fulfil the required ( at the moment) amount.  We are of course treated as any other third country, and there are not many residents from such countries currently in Spain. If you work out say a small monthly pension of £500 a month x how many U.K. pensioners in Spain.  It’s a lot lol.  Also, how are people who have invested in Spain in their second,   supposed to be in the future , primary  homes. Once the dust settles, fingers crossed they will do something to ease the way for us.

Hello Declan, just read the link you sent me, that really explained everything in plain language. Hopefully with the sum we have in bank we should be ok. Thank you for this link I feel more positive now.

Keep safe kind regards Gwen

Hello, thank you for your reply, I totally agree with what you said. The Spanish economy would be a lot worse off without us pensioners.😊🤞 kind regards Gwen

Hello there

We have just been going through the movement from Spain over the last year

First off we decided on selling our property in England.we weighed up the renting out but concluded it seemed it  there could be lots of hassle onless you paid someone to rent it out get new tenants/maintenance services gas electric poll taxes .never regretted doing this selling our property meant we could put the18000 in the Spanish bank.

We had to have 18000 euros in the Spanish bank , and give proof of income, you only need private health insurance if you are under pensionable age if you are a pensioner you get a S1 form from UK.gov and this gets you medical attention for free at local surgery you pay a little for each prescription. I have just become a pensioner so I get this service now but before that I had to have a private insurance to get medical attention.so if you wait till 1 of you are a pensioner that would save you 2000 euros.

Although we lived in our house in England  for 30 years we thought that if we wanted to come back to England we would just rent .

Thankskrith

Keith you will have obtained residency before the 1/1/21 when S1 were available to you as you have said for healthcare in Spain. However since 1/1/21 TIE,s are no longer covered by the withdrawal agreement and therefore Gwen would have to accept they would require private healthcare forever either by an expensive Company's private cover or by governments Convenio Especial which is approx 65€ month upto 65 and 157€ month each after 65. A considerable sum every month as S1's no longer available to residencia applications since 1/1/21.

Regards

Pauline
