We bought near La Fuente last year and use our place 4 or 5 times a year. It’s just over an hours walk from there to the beaches and the boulevard. La Fuente commercial centre itself is great, plenty of bars and restaurants and live entertainment. There’s supermarkets and a chemist. Taxis and buses are a bit hit and miss unfortunately, but if you like walking then you aren’t just stuck with La Fuente, you can walk towards other groups of bars nearby, and the Villamartin plaza is around a 40 min stroll. We looked at various areas in Villamartin and nearby, and decided on La Fuente area (5 mins walk away) simply for the variety of bars and restaurants. The Campoamor golf hotel is also worth a visit for an afternoon meal.

Hi

it does depend what you’re looking for. We bought a lovely apartment in Villamartin about 10 mins walk from the Plaza. We were told by the agent the buses were very regular. Unfortunately, they didn’t run on a weekend except in the height of the summer (we didn’t stay in summer). They ran about every 90 mins. Anyway to cut a long story short as I can’t walk too far we sold and moved to PUNTA Prima. Because we don’t drive in Spain, this is the perfect place for us. We down sized to one bedroom one bathroom. We are beachside of N332. We have the beach, bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets on our doorstep. A great bus service and close to a pickup on David’s coaches trips. We are 100% happy. It suits us perfect!

I hope you find the perfect place for you

We bought in El Galan last year - about 3 minutes drive from Villa Martin so 15 minutes or so walk away also about 10 minutes walk from La Fuente.  I would say properties are slightly more expensive in Villa Martin - by about 10 to 20 thousand. It's about a 8 minute drive to beaches.  It's lovely and quiet where we are but close to all amenities.  We bought a car (I'd never driven abroad before!) But am getting there!  I'd say a car is a must as public transport is terrible.  We didn't buy close to coast as we didn't want a 'holiday' feel all the time - so we think the we've got the best of both worlds.  You could also try looking at Blue Lagoon and Eagles Nest as they are within walking distance of Villa Martin.

Hi like you after doing research we had our hearts set on Villamartin. After we flew out and visited we decided to putchase in Punta Prima as we felt it was a bit far eapecially as we will not be driving. . My advise would be to spend time in Villamartin area to get a feel for it but also lool at other areas with an open mind. It all horses for courses and depends what you are looking for . Good luck with your search

I would strongly advise against considering Eagles Nest. It is full of very pernicious elder xenophobic bigots, who complain about the heat the food and why don't those Spaniards speak English . The governing bodies of the two communities in Eagles Nest are nothing more than a bunch of absolute total incompetents and the whole area has been rapidly descending into something resembling a vile estate - buy anywhere other than there.

Oh dear!  Do you live there?  You've obviously had a "run in" with someone there!  I don't live in that area but I think what you've commented is a bit strong!
