Hi there, I can understand you want to come out to Spain for a little break like so many people. I am 72 and live in Spain and suffer from bronchitis and hate wearing a mask. I have tied the elastic close to the sides of the mask which gives you more breathing space, tuck the sides of the mask inside, so it fits tight around your face. Apart from all the other people giving you very good advice about Spain's figures going up again, flying, insurance, social distancing, washing your hands, 2 weeks quaranteen on your return etc, etc. You have to think is it worth it.

I’ve just shared a video on Facebook of a surgeon who is demonstrating that wearing a mask doesn’t reduce a persons oxygen saturation level . It may make you feel uncomfortable or possibly claustrophobic but it shouldn’t reduce the amount of oxygen you receive according to this post .

Don't forget you have to wear you mask from security at the airport all the way until you exit Alicante airport. You can only remove for food/drink on certain airlines so may be worth checking . I know Ryanair are ok but BA for example were stricter.

During this ongoing pandemic, there are many theories from both sides, scientific (incl. WHO) who have changed agree/or disagree.(regarding masks)
I personally believe that the masks do not help in public, (or may even be detrimental) in the general public.(when frequently removed & replaced). BUT, that is my opinion. We can only go with the rule of law, wherever you reside.

I am guessing that you will be travelling without insurance and relying on the EHIC which will cover you for emergencies and ongoing treatment but if you do fall ill, and with COPD it seems you are not only more susceptible to the virus but also more likely to suffer more serious consequences, yo...

...u will be stuck in Spain for the duration. Any extra expense will be down to you as you may be discharged from hospital before you are given a fit to fly note from a doctor.
All in all, a lot to risk plus you are likely to spend your time here being glared at, talked about and challenged on a regular basis.
That's very positive for him to hear.what a joke.

OK, just for you Mr Benidorm 55:
The OP has been indoors since March, so terrified of this virus that they have locked themselves away for at least 4 months and now wants to travel to Spain against FCO advice to walk around without a mask as they are already too ill to wear one.
The sun is shining, that's about the only positive I can think of.
EDIT:
High humidity
Humid air is dense, due to the high water content. This density can increase airway resistance in the body. As a result, breathing may require more effort, which can worsen COPD symptoms, including shortness of breath and fatigue. Humid, hot weather also requires the body to work harder to stay cool.Posted: Fri Aug 7, 2020 12:23pm
Here we go again. The usual argumentative and judgemental responses to a simple question. What on earth has happened to this forum!

Remember - it is not the Benidorm you remember;
El 95% de la hostelería del centro de Benidorm está abierta frente al
90% de los negocios de la zona inglesa que permanecen cerrados (https://www.diarioinformacion.com/)
Start learning or brushing up on your spanish and expect to pay higher prices with fewer choices in the restaurants-bars that are open
Nearby Villajoyosa might be forced in a total lockdown - phase 1 tonight or tomorrow and I have heard that Spain is the epicentre of new cases in Europe
Do you really want to come here?
