Hi Mike when I asked for information from my Spanish bank they informed me that my NIE had expired. As I'm not a resident in Spain the NIE requires updating.

First of all you need to get an appointment, with you have to apply for.
Then you will be assigned the specific office you will have to attend for the application.

I believe you still have to go trought the process. Not sure though

If you've got an electronic certificate, you might be able to renew it online. I can't test this myself, because I've nothing with an expiry date. If you do have an electronic certificate, let me know and I'll give you the link.
