Hi there - just a thought..... we plan to move to Spain later this year.   I have EU (Irish) passport, husband does not.

My question is - if we bring over some household items as well as personal items (clothes etc) are we liable for import duty or any other taxes. I believe it to be the case the other way (Spain to UK).

Has anyone had this experience please?

thanks for your help, Chris g

It's the transporting of goods from a non EU country (UK) to the Schengen area which may attract duties and IVA not which passport you hold.

Hi Graham - I wish you all the best with your move.

I have since learned that if the goods you bring into Spain (from outside EU) are for personal use then duty not applicable:-

this information might help clarify.

good luck
