History of the disused 'village' that you can see from Torre del Gerro on the Montgo?

Does any one know the history of the disused housing that can be seen on the road over the Montgo from Javea to Denia? It fascinates me but can't find out anything about it on google. Attached is a picture of it taken from Torre del Gerro in Denia.

Fascinating isn't it? Have you taken a drive up to the place and looked around? I always felt it would make an excellent film set for something about a dystopian future :)

Not much help really but we were told by someone who has lived in Denia for many years that it was an "illegal build" from perhaps even as long ago as the 1970's and was stopped by the authorities before it was finished. If you get up close you can see no internal structures/windows etc were ever installed. I did ask why the structure hadn't been demolished but apparently nobody wanted to pay for it to be pulled down!
