My property has a number of wooden external doors and windows which will need recoating soon. The existing colour is similar to a chestnut brown.

I would like to hear any recommendations for local products similar to Ronseal which will offer as much protection as possible from the sun and rain, including where to buy it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hi Mike, I can't really help you, but can't resist chipping in. Given the climate in Spain, I've found that wood treatments don't last very long. If I was starting from scratch, I'd probably just use teak oil and resign myself to having to keep applying it. For wood that's already been treated, I think you'd need a product like Xylazel Fondo, which is porous and less prone to flaking off.

Hopefully someone else will give their advice and educate the pair of us.

Thanks Jim. Since I posted, I checked Amazon and found I could get them to send Ronseal 10 Year Woodstain, although the postage for a 2.5 litre tin is £9 on top of the cost of around £25.

Still want to hear about Spanish alternatives.
