Cancelling Internet/Fixed line with MasMovil

I need to cancel my fibre internet and landline provided by Masmovil. I have had the line for over 4 years and I am able to cancel without penalty although I will need to return the router.
When I emailed Masmovil to check the information they needed in order to terminate the contract they advised that I would need to do this by phone as it could not be done by email.
My Spanish is not up to a telephone call that could involve a heavy sales pitch to try to keep my business so I'm wondering if it is indeed necessary to make a phone call or should it be possible to terminate via email providing all of the correct identity information (which they have told me they require) is provided?
Any experiences are welcome.
