I have a meeting in December to sign the Padron (?) to complete my application for Spanish Residency. I currently live in France on the border with Spain .

My question is , if the borders between provinces are closed , how is it possible to be able to drive through Spain to get to my home in Costa Blanca ?

I don't think borders are physically closed, however there seems to be spot checks and blocks and if you get stopped then you will be questioned. That said, I know of folk from Bilbao, Madrid and Murcia who have arrived into Valencia region this past week without issue.

I suppose the issue is whether you are happy to risk driving 1500km from UK to Costa Blanca to be turned back 20km from destination.  However, it would be an exciting game of cat and mouse.

Good luck.

Good luck.

Thanks , that was how I read the situation . I am going to get a letter from my lawyer to confirm the meeting and hopefully by sticking to the autoroutes, hope to dodge the roadblocks 🤞. IF i dont , i hope the letter will allow me to continue as I am not visiting as a tourist

If it's anything like the first lockdown then I'd reckon on getting stopped crossing from one region to another and what happens then will very likely be down to the whim or mood of the guardia who stops you.

Bonne chance!

We arrived back in spain last Friday, driving through the tunnel, 2 stops in France and one in spain on the border with France. The only place we got pulled over by the Guardia was just outside Valencia. We were asked why we were on the road, we produced our tie cards and eurotunnel ticket and were allowed to travel on. The roads were very quiet, very little traffic. Hope your travel goes well.

If you currently live in France how can you obtain residency?   Residency is currently, I believe, dealt with in Alicante and the Padron is dealt with at your local town hall.

Golandrina , you are the reason I am not a fan of these sites . You do not offer any answers to my question , you only spout forth your views and opinions , as if somehow they are important or of interest to anyone , apart from yourself . Thank heaven there seems to be more people on this foray that are willing to help , rather than just ..............?

I did not 'spout forth my views and opinions' but gave you facts which would be helpful to most people, i.e. the Padron is dealt with by the local town hall and residency is dealt with by the National Police in Alicante.
