I don't know if you are aware Rod but for non EU nationals who are permanent residents in an EU member state there is a path for them to transfer that residency to another state.

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32003L0109

Of course I don't know if you have permanent residence in France or if a person could take advantage of the option by dint of becoming a non EU citizen as a result of Brexit but I thought I'd just mention it anyway.

BTW I thought you were a bit harsh on Golandrina as living in Spain is something of a pre-requisite for a residency application so while maybe not a necessary question it was a valid one.

Thank you for your observations and I did know about the non EU option , but it is a more complicated route than the current option . However , again I say , without fear of being a bit harsh , that was not my question. My question was about travelling down to Spain , so although your points were both valid and interesting, like Golandrina , they were not pertinent or useful to my question about travelling to Spain . Btw Golandrina , like yourself , was replying to a question about travelling not Residency, so while you both offered informative responses to questions about Residency, they had no relevant or useful information about travelling by car from France to Spain. I am sorry you feel I was / am being harsh , but I get fed up trying to get information about something on the internet, then  to have to troll through loads of information I didn’t ask for . If my question had been “ how do I get Spanish Residency “ , then both your responses would have been useful and all the others about travelling by car through Spain , would not ! There are other questions on this forum asking about residency where I am sure your information is both reverent and of use to the people asking the ques

If it's anything like the first lockdown then I'd reckon on getting stopped crossing from one region to another and what happens then will very likely be down to the whim or mood of the guardia who stops you.

Bonne chance!

We drove down during the summer - had done PCR tests in case we were stopped at the French-Spanish border - it was in July... We were the only ones crossing over - quite eerie but never checked/stopped..  More checks coming back into France in August.

We arrived back in spain last Friday, driving through the tunnel, 2 stops in France and one in spain on the border with France. The only place we got pulled over by the Guardia was just outside Valencia. We were asked why we were on the road, we produced our tie cards and eurotunnel ticket and we...

...re allowed to travel on. The roads were very quiet, very little traffic. Hope your travel goes well.

Here's the info on the French website dated 25/9/2020

https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/Infos-pratiques/Attestation-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage

https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/Infos-pratiques/Attestation-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage

Travellers from the European area (European Union Member States + Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City) and from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Singapour) are exempt from the restrictions established to fight the spread of Covid-19.

So it would seem that there are no tests coming from the UK into France.

If you currently live in France how can you obtain residency?   Residency is currently, I believe, dealt with in Alicante and the Padron is dealt with at your local town hall.

Well pointed out - not spouted.

All of my experience on this Forum is that people are kind and helpful.  I simply found your reply to such a one as rude and petulant.  Please temper your tone when commenting.

No all I was asking for was how to get down by car to Punta Prima . Telling me about Residency is not helpful . If I wanted to know about requirements for Residency then I would have asked that question . I am so glad that all your experiences have resulted in you finding kind people and helpfulness. I likewise found helpful people WHO ANSWERED MY QUESTION !

PS Your findings about my remarks are even less useful , helpful or kind , than the original post about Residency .

PPS why did you feel it helpful or kind you expressing ,to me ,your opinions as they had nothing to do with the original question and I simply found your remarks , just adding to the “spam” I received on my question .

PPS please ( this is me being kind ! ) don’t bother replying because I have received all the useful information I ask for ( thank you to you all ) and have now turned of any notifications on this ques
