Ignore advice to the contrary, you are in the right place!

Location all depends on lifestyle and budget. As someone replied to your other question, the Idealista website is just what you need.

The old town has lots of shops but so does the beach area. If you don't have or want a car you should keep your search between the bridge over the Rio Seco and a couple of hundred metres North of the yacht club. You will always be within 300 metres of a supermarket and a tram or bus stop that can take you to Alicante.

Good luck!

It is, there there lots of sub forums in the main Costa Blanca forum and you are posting correctly in the El Campello one.
