We're in EC for the next 2 weeks.  In the meantime there's a contract which we need to cancel back in France: we have some time before it has to be processed, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with sending a registered letter abroad?  If it goes AWOL then it might be easier to send it from France when we go back at the end of the month.... Any advice welcome - we just need to be 100% sure that the letter gets there!  thanks for any advice

We have to send our Passports when renewing and Correos Registered or Recorded Delivery are favourite. I've personal experience of this with receipt confirmed by Passport Office within 2 days so can vouch for speed and reliability.

I've sent tracked mail to the UK from Campello and it took 2 weeks. It was much slower than the ordinary mail. Most of the time on the tracking it just said "in transit" so that was hopeless.

Thanks - think it maybe better til we get back to Spain easier to deal with French postal services. Mail forwarded to here from France arrived here long after we left (we stopped the service 10 days before leaving here) - just got it when we came back 4 months later. Sounds like less hassle to do it from France- as it's about cancelling a contract better keep it simple. Thanks

Yes. I regretted sending it tracked mail. It was important documents and I wished that I'd sent it ordinary mail to my sister in law in UK for her to send the documents on to the solicitors by recorded delivery. Ordinary mail to the UK is ok but twice I've done tracked mail and it takes at least a fortnight.

Thanks Eileen200 think will wait til I get back: don't particularly want to have hassle cancelling a contract if have no proof of it being sent.
