I too have all three versions as I like to be prepared for every eventuality (official NHS letter, NHS app version in my phone wallet and a physical printed NHS app version). On this occasion, I handed over my NHS app print out. My partner showed his phone version. I saw someone else with the off...

My experience mirrors WendyB48. I arrived at Alicante on Tuesday pm (12 April) and I simply showed my NHS travel pass kept in my phone’s wallet. It was scanned & all ok. I realise others have paper versions which are fine. Some travellers were also trying to use the locator form as a back up since the changes were announced, but as has alreadybeen pointed out, the form should only be used for those that do not have an eu digital certificate or eu equivalent. The SpTH website and phone app were recently updated to reflect the changes. Maybe the airport was a little slow to implement the changed position. I read some were being asked for the locator form even by Tuesday morning but, as mentioned, that wasn’t my experience by late afternoon.

Both the SpTH website & phone app offer the facility to check to see if your certificate is valid, which at least provides some reassurance prior to travelling.

Apparent the NHS equivalent of the EUDCC is the NHS Covid Pass, not the letter from the NHS.
