Hi Ian

I live on El Raso so can answer any questions you may have. As other posters have advised it depends what you’re looking for in a property and if it’s a permanent move or a holiday home.

We immediately fell in love with the area when we bought a property here a couple of years ago.

It’s not too quiet nor too noisy and has a good selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Send me a pm if you want any more info

Lynn

We recomend El Raso as one of the nicest areas quiet well looked after lots of eating places and a supermarket on site not far from beaches of La Mata and Guardamar close to bigger supermarkets close to doctors and other areas like Quesada, local market walking distance very friendly urbanisation

Hi I know this might be cheeky but what are the monthly charges for a El Raso. I understand these are necessary but they do add to the cost not often revealed in adverts and tv programs

Regards Ian

Community charges vary enormously. It depends on the size of the pool, as pool cleaners come in a couple of times a week and their charges are based on pool size. Also dependent on how often a gardener comes in. If your community has a large grassy area and lots of plants, your charges will be higher.  Also depends on number of properties in community.Plus electricity is another factor to bear in mind. Community might have a heated pool, electric gates for car park or a lift in an apartment block. These will increase your community charge.

On El Raso we have over 20 communities and the charges can vary between approximately 200€ and 1700€ per annum.

Thanks very much for that it will be no problem but it is nice to know.

All new properties are built to that spec. as it is the National Build Code to which all new builds have to comply with in Spain.

There are lots of modern good quality apartments in the Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa area by the way.

I would always choose a property built during the last 8 years or so.

Whilst I agree with the build quality being ok/ good there is still a massive hole with insulation and soundproofing.....be it on a 100k apartment or 2mil villa as you stated earlier.

As earlier posters have said the best recommendation is to rent before buying and get a feel for the area prior to committing, good luck with your venture!

Hi We’ve just bought a house on El Raso and are looking to complete around end of August. I play euphonium in two concert bands in Edinburgh and would like to continue in a Spanish band. Does anyone know one?

Hi Paul,

You have come to the right area. The "Comunidad Valenciana" is famous for it's brass bands . Practically every village or town has one. Google the name of a town near you with banda.

For example "Guardamar de Segura banda".

Good luck, will be interested to know how you get on.

Cheers, J
