For those planning to buy in Spain, for budget purposes you need to be aware of a change in how property transfer tax (ITP) is calculated, that has come into force this year, which is likely to lead to an increase in the amount of ITP you have to pay:

This is very helpful, Kim. Perhaps this explains something I have just been told. A lady sadly lost her husband in February. The house deeds were in joint names. The cost of changing the deeds to the wife’s name only is 4,500€? This is a holiday home. I was surprised that a name change on deeds would cost so much.
