Saw this in the mail which might affect some of us

Tens of thousands of British expats in Europe 'will be stripped of their UK bank accounts and credit cards in weeks' after government failed to negotiate post Brexit rule

Very interesting information.  I read about that the other day too.

It's going to be a nightmare if more banks do the same.

I'm with the Halifax bank but I haven't received any emails or messaged about them closing accounts.

We will see ‼️

I've just contacted HSBC and they say as long as the account remains active it won't  be closed.

Good to hear.   I believe that the report is just media hype as I have only seen a report in respect of Barclaycard but not Barclays Bank.

Typical Daily Fail item. Only half or less of the truth. The problem with the Brexit fiasco, ill thought out as is has been from start to finish, in this instance is the rules regarding pass-porting of credit card use. There is no reason other than stupidity and false economics on the part of banks to invalidate normal bank accounts. Whilst international fiscal rules disallow the use of Credit Cards following 31 December 2020 regarding UK, this does not affect current or savings accounts continuing as before.
