Hello,

I recently bought an apartment in the Pindar de Guardamar urbanisation at the southern end of Avenida de Cervantes, glorious Guardamar. I have a television but cannot at present receive any kind of signal, so I would imagine I need to buy / install some form of satellite dish or cable. Can anyone advise as to the best basic service (e.g. TVE, Antena 3, etc.) available on the market, ideally a Spanish equivalent of Freeview, and how best to receive this?

Many thanks,

J McSherry

I have a Satellite dish (€ ? already fitted) and receiver (€94) no monthly charge and about 40 or so UK channels once tuned in.

Hello,

Thanks for your advice.

Given what you have said, I suspect my aerial connection must be faulty, as a digital receiver I bought is failing to pick up any signal when connected and retuning draws a blank too. I’m only really after a Spanish service at present, can live without the Beeb, C4, etc. when in Guardamar.

Cheers!

Hi

My husband and I bought our apartment in the same urbanisation last summer.  It does sound like your ariel connection isn't working as we pick up a Spanish service from our ariel connection.  We can also get some channels in English by switching audio to the original broadcast. We love being in Guardamar.

Kind regards Lesley

Dear Pete & Lesley,

Thank you for your kind replies and assistance, much appreciated. I’m not back out in Guardamar until April, so can’t state make and model of digital receiver just now Pete, but would certainly appreciate your advice at the time. Again, thank you.

Lesley, I share your sentiments about beautiful Guardamar and the Pinar complex, a fabulous place in the sun. My family was out last weekend for 4 great days of welcome February sunshine; counting the days till we return...

Hi

Have you got wifi?

We got our Spanish/English free sat from Vega Fibra based in Guardamar opposite Specsavers,it's a one off fee of €80 for the box. You will need wi fi though we pay €24 per month plus they do deals where you only pay when you are here.

Hope this helps

Hello Pauline,

Thank you for your kind advice. Don’t presently have internet installed in property, on the ‘to do’ list for this year though. I will certainly keep the Vega Fibra deal in mind, sounds like very good value.

Again, many thanks.

James

Hello, I see this an old post.
I recently bought a remote from the local Chinese warehouse place.  They seem to have them for most makes.  The packet says what models it is good for so you will have to browse.

Dear Classic man, Thank you for your reply. I know that it is possible to buy a universal remote control that requires 'pairing' with the tv but at my age I am struggling with new technology and wish to make the operation as simple as possible. I now have a fear of devices that are 'all singing & dancing' with many superfluous or redundant features and buttons. Once again thank you, Peter132
