Hi all, in 2017 I purchased an old house without a foundation and basically the house subsided less than half an inch I estimate and there is a crack in the front main wall of the house. After I purchased the house without a survey I found out that the main water pipe burst in the street causing my house to subside. The water company apparently dug up the road and repaired the water main. Six year on are the water company liable to repair my house and would my buildings insurance company help me out even though my policy started with them after the damage was done?

Best Regards!

Any legal action would be a Russian roulette with no empty chamber. At this time over 1 mio. lawsuits are pending and the minimum time for a hearing is about 3 years. Then, even if you win the case there is no way to find out about reimbursment of your expenses, and there are plenty. Better think twice.

What, if any, compelling proof do you have for that?

Re insurance: You can ask but I've never heard of an insurance policy which covers events which occurred before their inception.

Hi Killjoy, thanks for the advice. I think you are right also. It's just isn't worth the trouble.
