My wife and I have lived in Mallorca for eight years but we are planning to move to the Marina Alta area in summer 2024. We have yet to decide on a particular town. There seem to be plenty of good options. The various people I've been in touch with - both expat and local - all seem very happy. In fact, I've only heard one dissenting voice - that of a British guy who said he'd had numerous bad experiences at the hands of people he referred to as 'gypsies' in Pego. He said the town had been invaded by 'gypsies' who have 'ruined the place'. Oddly, no one else has mentioned this. Anyway, I'm always keen to hear recommendations and wondered if any of you would like to share your experiences of living in the area.

One particularly important factor for us is finding good schools for our young daughters. The oldest will be twelve next year so we need to find a decent secondary school for her. The youngest will be eight. In Mallorca, we were fortunate to find an absolutely lovely little village school at which the standard of education and care has been extremely high. Obviously we have our fingers crossed that we can find that again in the Marina Alta area. Word of mouth and personal recommendations are essential to finding a decent school so all advice will be very gratefully received.

I should say that my girls have a very good level of Spanish and Catalan.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best wishes
