I have recently flown from Alicante to Luton Airport luckily after the fire so no problems with the flight and the airport shame about the car park (please don't buy an electric car the car manufacturers haven't got them right yet ???

My problem was with Ryanair and the not so great car hire deal they offered me ??

Firstly they never told me where to pick up my car hire or which company there was  at least 5 in the car hire office outside the airport ?

So far so good I told them my name and reference number then my driving licence number

But then they asked me for my actual driving licence card oh no

All I had was a paper  copy of my

English driving licence and a piece of paper showing that I had applied to exchange it for a Spanish one ? That was it over

I was told that I could not hire a car without a card licence ???

I thought the whole world new about this problem but no another UK muck up bloody Boris following that I picked up a cold and apart from meeting my lovely family and friends thus trip was a f nightmare excuse the f word but that's how I felt xx

Be warned

Sorry but I'm not sure what you're asking.

Yes, you need an appropriate driving licence to hire a car, both in UK & Spain.

No, you cannot hire a UK car with a Spanish temporary paper licence. TBF, I would have thought this would be obivious.

Nothing to do with Ryanair.

Nothing to do with Boris.

Sorry about your cold!

welly

Well when I posted  my experience I didn't expect a telling off I thought this was a friendly site I think most if us are unaware of the problems brexit has caused I thought I was just highlighting the problem what about be sorry for the people who's cars were in the car park

They might of had to hire a car unexpectedly we see not all as clever as some people ?

Hi. The car that caught fire was diesel not electric. I would have thought that you would have realised that you can’t hire a car on a temporary piece of paper. And Brexit is not the fault of Boris, but 17.2 million people that voted out. Hope your cold is better, might be best to test for covid. Have a good day 😎

The car was electric. Diesel does not explode, it wasn't just a fire, of course the authority's don't want anyone to know it was an EV. So far this year 12 EV cars have done just that. Lithium is very votatile, diesel is not. That's another reason why there are rules when flying about batteries in electrical items.

I have a video of when it exploded, part the of the upper floor above where you drive in on the right exploded and collapsed. Diesel takes intense pressure or a sustained flame to ignite. Try to burn diesel with a match and it goes out.

A fire would not have caused the upper floor to collaspe in the manner it did.

As for the lady I'm surprised anyone still has a paper copy license. I'm on my second new card type license. Best to stay up to date with the rules and regulations.

That's strange as the Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed the fire started with a diesel car. Do you think they are party to your suspected cover up?

Note that it not said a explosion occurred.

Actually I have it with great authority that the press saying it was a diesel is totally wrong  but that is not true it was definitely an electric car as my friend drives a breakdown lorry and was on site to collect a vehicle maybe the press don't want it published

Because it will scare people from buying an electric car  ? I don't know thank for the enquiry about my cold sadly it hsd gone from bad to worse just unlucky I guess

When I  was travelling backwards and forward regularly in my camper van I found it to be much less hassle than flying and much

More pleasurable with fantastic

Places to visit on the way but obviously much more expensive ?

Hi,

when you say you have it on great authority that the car starting the fire was electric, who is the great authority?

The press reporting was based on what they were told by Bedfordshire Fire Service's chief fire officer, someone I would have thought should know the actual cause of the fire. The fire service have no reason to lie about the cause of a fire.

Rgds,

Aitch.
