The water in Spain is as safe to drink as any you'll find in the Northern hemisphere, and arguably safer than some of those.

Some say they don't care for the taste but having drunk local water in quite a few places I've never found any cause for complaint. I typically drink 3-4lts  of water a day BTW.

I can never understand why people feel it necessary to buy huge volumes, of bottled water.

Spanish tap water is now classed as 99.5% clear to drink. A lot has been done over the last years to ensure this.

I agree with Darro. I have been drinking tap water for the last 12 years since we became permanent residents. Simply fill up plastic bottles and put them in the fridge as I like it cold but no adverse effects at all. Equates to about the same safety as UK and, even in UK, you'll get water tasting differently from place to place.

I agree with the above posts (Darro y marcliff). It's all down to taste. I lived in the campo for almost 20 yrs, with only irrigation water ( IE not chlorinated). Always boiled before consumption. No I'll effects. Now, I live in town & can smell the difference of chlorinated ( bleached) water. I only drink bottled water to taste, for two reasons: 1. I don't like the taste of bleach & 2. I only drink agua con gas. All down to taste. (edit: I do drink other liquids) V

You can have your water tested at the local chemist if it bothers you

Great. That means no heavy carrying of bottled water.
