Across the street from our holliday-appartment in LaMata a cat is meowing and asking for our attenton. She doesn’t look like a wild cat to me, but she probably hasn’t lived with people for some time. She seems pregnant and she pulls her head a little. Ze loves to be petted. I’ve been feeding this cat for a week now, she’s hungry (all the time). Next week I’m going home (the Netherlands), what could I do now?  I would like to contact the local shelter, who can I call or mail about this? Love te hear your advice! Caroline

Fingers crossed Carolien, i am a frequent visitor to the La Zenia area and I find it so sad all the feral cats.. They should be able to scan her for a microchip she hopefully has an owner and has gotten lost.. any vet in the area could scan her for you.

Please do keep me posted wishing for a good outcome

Evelyn

She’s probably not lost in that sense. People feel free to throw out and abandon animals when they find them a problem or inconvenient. Please please contact a shelter and ask them to rescue her. True feral cats dont really want to be petted and do have a lufe on the streets but are unlikely ever to have been socialised.

I promissed to keep you informed about the meowing cat.

Via ‘Ellen’s Cats’ we found Veronica, she’s Dutch too, and she is from ‘Helping Kitten Paws’. She and her daughter gave me advice and first aid to the cat.

He is very sweet and affectionate and lives with us now This week we’ll travel with him to the Netherlands and there he’ll get all the care and love he needs.
Thanks for your support!

Oh that is the best news Carolien, I was thinking of him and hoping you managed to get some help.  So happy that you decided to adopt him what a lovely end to what could have been such a sad story.  What a kind caring person you are.

Warmest regards

Evelyn

Hi, last message: everything ok with the cat. He’s is in Holland now, living with my mother, is happy and feeling fine. A vet helped us with a check, rabies and a passport. Everything went very well. Bye!

So happy to hear that, thank you for the update. What a lucky cat, if only all the other poor stray cats could have such an amazing outcome.

take care
