Hi Linda, most properties, with agents, are usually furnished to a high standard but if you do not like anything, they will usually remove it. I have contents insurance from my Bank (Caixa) in case of accidents or breakage. It is only €14 and gives me peace of mind. You should ensure that the building is insured by the agent, you don't want a massive bill if the house burns down! I had a flood in the first house and most of the kitchen had to be replaced, covered by the agent's insurance. Again, I wish you good luck! Kind regards, Dave

Well thank you so much for all that info... yes insuring the contents for such a small amount makes sense... but who would have thought to make sure that they have insurance on the building?... that's why i love this forum you can get so much information from so many people willing to help...

someone mentioned offsetting their tax against the rental payments... there are loads of things to look into.

If we are not using the proceeds of our ( eventual sale ) to buy again then we would want something that was furnished to a high standard....  one benefit of getting older... is we could easily live off our pensions... win win again... all i need now is for someone with negative responses.. but as yet none!!.... many many thanks i really appreciate your response...
