Hello

I arrived at Alicante airport last week and went through passport control with my Irish passport

I travel in and out of Alicante every couple of weeks

On this occasion my passport was stamped with an entry stamp.

I didn’t question it as the queue was huge and didn’t want to hold everyone up

Is this a mistake? Has anyone else had their Irish passport stamped on entry to Spain?

Thanks

Carlmc

I’ve never had mine stamped. I assume you went though the EU gates?

No, the EU gates where closed. Which happens most of the time.

I guess I can just put it down to the passport officer not looking at my passport correctly

Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it, think of it as a souvenir.

TBH I don't think Spanish border people are checking any passport stamps.

You are correct, to be honest they couldn’t care less. It’s just extra hassle now having to stamp or check passports. Probably not every airport or every immigration official, but I have been told by one that I know personally, that this is the case. Hey !  what’s wrong with that, an unofficial gradual return to the good old days.
