Please can someone clarify, can I use a NHS PCR test for my return to Scotland ? I already have one at home that I could use. Some sites say yes this is acceptable other sites say no, surely it is the same test that companies sell. TIA.

No most definitely not. On your return you need to take a Day 2 PCR Diagnostic test from a government approved supplier and obtain a booking reference number, which needs to be entered on to your passenger locator form. At the moment there is only one approved supplier for Scotland, However it was announced that the supplier list was to be extended in September, but I cant find out when that is supposed to start. That’s obviously presuming you’ve been double jabbed and have a Covid vaccination certificate. If you haven’t you also need to take a Day 8 test, quarantine for 10 days and you’d also need a PCR test to enter Spain.
You also need to take a test in the 3 days before you leave Spain. The government recommend that you take a PCR test, but advise that an antigen test is acceptable. You can either book a test here , there are numerous threads telling you where to go for a test. Or you can pre order a test from one of the numerous companies offering this service C19 & Co-op Pharmacy are the most common choices. Bring the test with you and take a photo of your test result alongside your passport, they issue you with a certificate Again this is a requirement for your locator form.

There is no need to pay the extra for a ‘government recommended’ supplier for the day 2 test. I have used ‘Randox’ twice recently with no issues. £43 with the Ryanair code compared to £88 with the government 1!!

Hi
My daughter had to get a Covid PCR test sent to her home address prior to going back to the UK although she is tested when she gets back using the NHS setting kit . This is not accepted by the UK
I think it was a company called Ranox they are the cheapest
When you book this you get a number
This has to be included on your passenger Locator Form
You will also be asked for this at the airport
You must also take an antigen test €50.00 at the the clinic in La Siesta behind small water park You must phone to make an appointment up to 72 hours before you fly You get a certificate when you take it which is checked at the airport before you fly
You also need your proof of double vaccination
If you don't have any of the above you won't be allowed to board the plane

Rules are slightly different for Scotland they only have one Day 2 supplier at the moment. If you use Randox you risk being fined.

As I said, I have used Randox twice to come back to Edinburgh with no issues!
