Applying for a vado

In order to obtain a vado you must pay a fee annually to the local council. In order to ensure that your garage or entrance is free from obstruction, it's a good idea. It also allows you, officially, to cross the pavement in order to drive your own vehicle into your driveway.

Yes. Villas is quite correct. But be aware that you cannot park your car there either or that could be removed  !

I do not know cost as it varies between  areas but it is not cheap.

Just got ours taken from our account 25€  for a year - we are in Pilar de la Horadada. 

That’s just the annual charge though.

To get one installed you need to pay for all the licensing, the official sign, dropping the kerb and the road painting.  

If you charge you mind or move into a property already with a Vado you do not require , you have to pay again to repaint the road and build up the kerb again.

We did not pay for anything else for the sign - we filled some forms in at the Ayuntamiento provided proof of our residence and the Town Hall asked th local Police to come and put up the sign.  To be fair we waited a couple of months and when nothing happened we went back to the Ayuntamiento for an update and they told us we should go to the local police with the papoerwork and they would arrange for someone to put up the sign.  Luckily our local police station is walking distance from us and they couldnt have been more helpful.   Two policemen turned up the day after our visit, knocked on our door and asked us where we woulkd like it placed - thought they would leave the sign with us to put up but they did it all (putting it where we wanted) - might be different in different areas but we definately did not pay anything for our sign like licence etc.  It is a new build and the kerb was already dropped for our garage but we don't have the yellow road painting so I can see another visit coming to the Ayntamiento to see if they will do that - we need it as we are close to a school and it is sometimes quite difficult to get the car in and out of the garage because cars are parked opposite and literally within mm of the dropped kerbs to our garage.  If you are having your kerb dropped and road painting I guess there would be an extra charge but the OP asked if there was a charge for a sign - for us there there was no charge for the sign.
