Just installed a coin meter...no previous experience so what should I set the usage at...20cents per unit?   I don't fully understand the usage.  Set it at 30cents but found it used 40 cents in one hour!!

It's difficult to get it right. I have recently installed a meter because my guests were leaving the Air-con on all day while they're out.

My meter is set to hours per euro (although I think it can be set to cents per KwHr)

My recent setting was 1 euro gives 6 hours which is 4 euro per 24 hrs, meaning that if the guest is there for a week AND uses the air-con 24/7 it costs them 28 euro per 7 days of 24 hrs. To me that seems fair for fridge/washing machine/Oven/fans/lights etc being about 2.5 euro per 24hr PLUS air-con making it 4 euro per 24hr

But 2 of my recent guests have complained that they thought the electricity was dear.

SO I have marked my calendar at the last date my IBERDROLA bill ran to, and kept a record of euros collected from the box, and intend to match the two amounts to see if at 4 euro / 24hrs it's in line.

Then you have a starting point.

You can of course get the rate per kwHr from the IBERDROLA bill and find the adjustment in your coinbox for cents per kwHr - I think it's about 15cents per 1 kw hour?-  then to cover yourself for breakdowns etc. adjust to 20cents per hour

BUT I'M NOT 100% SURE if you have another view please tell me

Hi, thanks for the informative reply...I set it is 15cents pr kWh and that seems to work out at 1.5-2euro per day. (Including washing machine, fans and two as units on from 9pm to 1.30am and 7.30am)

We recently dropped our tariff from 15c per day to 14c per day and 6c per night (11pm to 1pm).

We intend to increase the setting to 17c per kWh and that will more than suit us giving 3cents per kWh over our rate during the day and 11cents over during the night yet still giving our guests fair usage
