I live close by to Alfaz del Pi and can tell you without any doubt that the work situation is in dire straits. Nearly all building work stopped last March. Apart from a couple of refurbishment projects locally there is only private work which wouldn't need much ground work done. There are a few English building firms about which you could apply to but you would have to be a fully legal resident and maybe speak some conversational Spanish. It's a similar story for hairdressing....There are loads of hairdressers (Some English but mainly Spanish) in Alfaz, Albir, Altea and Benidorm any of which she could apply but again she needs to be a legal resident and have a knowledge of the Spanish language.
The Covid situation has resulted in many, many people being made redundant in all sectors.
You will have to apply for residency (TIE) within the first 90 days of living in Spain.
To be a legal resident here in Spain before 31st December 2020 you will need to prove that you have enough income to satisfy the authorities you won't become a burden on the state. At the moment for a family of 4 is around €1,430 per calendar month. This income has to be in a Spanish bank account for the last three months and outgoings being paid to various companies to prove that you are actually living in Spain. You will need to prove that you have full healthcare cover for you and your family paid for a full year. You will need a long term rental agreement or deeds and a padron certificate to show you are living here in Spain.
I can't comment on schooling and hopefully another poster will advise you on the costs.
You don't get any family benefits paid at all in Spain.
If you plan to move here after 1st January 2021 the financial requirements necessary will be four fold and you will need to re-sit your driving test to obtain a Spanish driving licence. The theory and test is performed in the Spanish language.
I know it sounds harsh but that's the reality of Brexit and third country requirements.
