Good day,

My partner and I, (she's Swedish and I Irish) are just about to put our 'foot in the door' of Spain by renting a small town house in the village of Lliber, (not far from the pharmacy). We certainly expect to be there for some months and who knows, maybe years??

We are kind of pensioners, though she is a young one! We are fit and active, we like people and places!

Any ideas, tips, hints, must do's, must NOT do's, people we must meet, etc?.....all to contribute to a happy, fulfilling life in our new place?

All ideas and suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks, Terry and Helen

Hi Terry

I only know of one member living in Lliber, Stephanie86. I understand she has been in the area for some considerable time, so highly likely to be able to give some good information.

Let’s hope she sees your post 🤪🥂

The paradise doesn't exist. But with a bit of fanatsy you can make your own - anywhere.

Hi, Terry and Helen, yes, I’ve seen your post!! We actually don’t live within the village but in the campo some 5 km outside. As you are probably aware, the foreign population is greater than the indigenous Spanish population, comprising several nationalities, however, the village has not lost it’s Spanish atmosphere.

The Ajuntamiento employs a fantastic older Englishwoman, called Suzanna, who has been  in Spain for most of her life. Her function is to help the non Spanish residents deal with any problems they may have with the Ajuntamiento or any queries to deal with day to day affairs. She works on Tuesday and Friday. Make an appointment to meet with her as a first useful introduction.

There are, I believe, all kinds of groups and the village has a vibrant traditional life. Or at least it did, up until the Covid catastrophe.

There is also the local small town of Jalon/Xalo which has many of the facilities not available in Lliber.

To be honest, we don’t use the village much as we are so far outside it, apart from a drink now and then in the square.

If you pm me I will give you Suzanna’s phone number. Also ask her to add you to her mailing list which gives out all the latest decrees, rulings, events etc. We would be very willing to meet up with you if you like. Suggest further comes via pm.

Kr

Stephanie
