We moved into Lo Crispin in December, we purchased our car from B &W cars in Los Montesinos we have had it a few weeks now and are happy with it and the customer service we received was also very good, so I would recommend them.

Well..there are 2 options, one is cheaper, one more expensive. First if time available, I will do myself al the steps required incl.the technical inspection ITV and probably up to 200 Euro all done (except the insurance and all the other taxes) . You can ask a dealer to do this for you and  probably the total will increase to 500-600 Euro.

I had the same question while over there. Jane at Currencies4you(.com) offer it as a service and do the heavy lifting. They are Pinoso based but am guessing that most of the paperwork side can be done remotely. Email is janet.spain @ currencies4you. com

Hope this helps and let me know how you get on.

Hi Frank,

My car is still in Germany, I have requested FWR EuroCars ,mrs. Francesca to perform all the necessary steps and register my car in Spain.

I have to send her the car papers once I will pick-up the car, I will have then a quotation for the fee/taxes requested . I will let you know in due time how much is. Normally import taxes should be zero for a car within EU.

Good afternoon from Bucharest,

I managed to make an online appointment( Cita Previa) for ITV at the Pilar station in Horadada for Monday, January 27.At the other station a San Bartolome is not possible until the beginning of February (busy). The cost for ITV for imported car is 90Euro.https://www.iteuve.net/
I'll keep you update with the other steps required to register my car.

I  was taken for a ride by a garage . I paid 70 euros to have the tow bar removed, which was compulsory, I was told, before it went to the ITV station. I was then charged 270 euros for the work they did at the ITV station, which, afterwards I found out, cost the garage 75 euros. I was asked for the 340 euros up front, in cash!

I had been told beforehand, by the garage that it was going to cost, altogether, 797 euros, but when  I said " so I will owe you 457 euros for going to Traffico", I was told that that the 340 euros was only for the first part, and that I would have to pay 797 euros for the second part, which involved going to Alicante to pay the taxes etc, getting new paperwork for the car and new number plates. By pure luck, I found another firm that did the second part for 450 euros. So for being greedy and trying to rip me off for 350 euros, the garage lost 450 euros.

I have since found out that there is a garage close to us, who do pre ITV checks. If I had to reregister again, I would go to a garage that just did the pre check, and take the car to the ITV station myself, and use the firm that I used to go to Alicante. I don't think that you have to use a garage to go to the ITV station, but it is best to use the firm that I used to do the second part, going to Alicante.

I have almost finished to register my car, imported to Spain from Germany. Some things need to be mentioned and will be helpful :

1.Before to go yourself to ITV make sure the imported car has all the exterior items fitted, original from the manufacturer. In my case I had to

remove the day lights and tow system because were fitted aftermarket. The technical condition was OK. Cost ITV = 100Euro.

I have removed myself all the items that thy wanted to be removed so, cost was zero .

2. When you buy from a car dealer within Europe, make sure on the receipt, below your name will show your NIE number.

I was myself to the ITV and I paid a Firma to register and pay all my taxes for me. Total cost in my case was 980Euro for a Toyota RAV4 year 2012 .

Good luck !
